Polestar Competes in "Let's Kick Domestic Violence" Charity Kickball Tournament Labor Day Weekend
September 1, 2017
Polestar is competing in the Katy Straalsund Memorial Foundation “Let’s Kick Domestic Violence” charity Kickball Tournament this weekend. Come watch fellow Polecats play kickball beginning tonight, September 1, at 5pm at the Horn Rapids Athletic Complex. Polestar’s team, “Kickstars” will be playing against Mid Columbia Engineering (MCE) in support of the Katy Straalsund Memorial Foundation. Our team members include, Coach Kari Vitaletti, Samee Nihill, and Bryan Coles.
This charitable organization is near and dear to Coach Kari's heart. Katy Straalsund was
her niece – a senior at University of Washington on the cusp of graduating with a degree in speech and hearing sciences – when she died last year in a tragedy involving domestic related violence. Katy’s family established the foundation as a legacy to Katy for providing a scholarship for a University of Washington student in the speech and hearing sciences department and also to raise money for helping local and state organizations in their efforts to raise awareness and fight against domestic violence.
Check out their Facebook page for details and the playing schedule where the event includes a silent auction, various food vendors, a beer garden and a BBQ. Come on out and enjoy the weekend with us for a very noble cause!
